Markets quiet after last week's rally
October 12, 2017
Local markets have remained quiet over the last week after rallying in late September. With reluctance to book business from both sides of the trade currently, this lull is likely to continue until we see a few more headers rolling and samples coming in.
Offshore, the story is much the same, with harvest winding up in the northern hemisphere, all eyes are on us. The uncertainty over the Australian crop remains a key talking point, and we should start to see local conditions have an effect on the global market once harvest is underway.
Early barley samples coming in across the Upper North are promising for growers, however it is highly unlikely that this will remain consistent across the state with such variance in seasons reported.
