NORTH Queensland cattle producers and stockfeed manufacturers have a new local option when it comes to accessing imported soybean meal and corn gluten feed pellets.
Global agribusiness, ADM, has commenced imports into the port of Townsville, with product sourced directly from the company’s corn and soybean processing facilities in the US Mid West.
“We’re excited to be shipping these quality ADM products to Townsville and North Queensland feed consumers,” said Tim Henry, ADM’s Managing Director Trading Australia New Zealand.
“ADM has been supplying these and other products direct to dairy farmers in New Zealand for the past six years, so it was only a matter of time before we embarked on the Australian market.
“Soybean meal has a great fit across a number of feeding applications, as does Corn Gluten Feed Pellets, where it can be used as a supplement in both paddock and confined cattle feeding operations.’’
Tim said ADM’s move north would provide much needed supply and pricing competition for cattle producers and stock feed consumers, as the products were traditionally sourced and trucked from Brisbane or southern stockfeed mills.
Local stevedoring, storage and logistics business, Sizer and Cogill, will manage ADM’s operations on the ground for both imported products and the company’s emerging grain export program out of Townsville.
The North Queensland operations will compliment ADM’s existing national origination footprint, where it supplies domestic and global customers with wheat, barley, canola, sorghum and pulses from southern grain ports.
If cattle producers and stock feed consumers across Central and Northern Queensland would like to know more about ADM’s Townsville feed offering, they can contact ADM’s Michael Vaughan on 0427 308 317 or Craig Wade, CQ Commodities, on 0417 820 388.
