A tale of two seasons
June 1, 2017
Seasonal conditions are a tale of two sides across SA with the Eyre Peninsula seeking further rain as they endure their driest autumn in years. The Mainland appears more comfortable with greater moisture levels however some isolated patches throughout the Lower North and Mid North are dry.
The long term rainfall forecast remains lacking which appears to weigh on farmer sentiment. Mice issues are becoming more apparent state wide as they nest in the residual stubbles from the previous season, and consume freshly sown seed. Shortfall of bait has not made the task of combatting these vermin easily. The culmination of these seasonal conditions and events means current forward grain pricing remain a deterrent with the risk v reward simply not there for the South Australian grower!
